| Description: | The overall purpose of this paper is to introduce computer simulation as a decision support tool that can be used to provide managers with timely information. A simulation/animation modeling procedure is demonstrated for wood products manufacuring systems. Simulation modeling techniques are used to assist in identifying and solving problems. Animation is used for reducing the time it takes to develop a simulation model and for communication purposes such as illustrating ãhowä and ãwhyä a given solution can be effective. The application and utility of the sijulation/animation tool is demonstrated using a furniture rough mill system characteristic of the eastern region of the United States. |
