Title: U.S. Wood Shipments to Puerty Rico
Author(s): Granskog, James E.
Date: 1992
Source: In: American forestry--an evolving tradition: Proceedings of the 1992 society of American foresters national convention: 547-548, October 25-27, Richmond, VA.
Description: Puerto Rico's importance as an offshore market for U.S. wood products is often overlooked. Because of its unique Commonwealth status, trade flows between the United States and Puerto Rico are recorded separately and are not counted in the U.S. foreign trade statistics. In 1991, wood product shipments from the United States to Puerto Rico totaled more than $83 million. Softwood lumber and plywood, primarily southern pine, accounted for more than 60 percent of the total value.
