Description: In 1992, volume of roundwood products removed from Georgia's forests totaled 1.2 billion cubic feet – 10 percent more than in 1989. Mill byproducts generated from primary manufacturers increased nearly 28 percent to 525 million cubic feet. Almost all of the plant residues were used, mostly for fuel and fiber products. Pulpwood was the leading roundwood product at 548 million cubic feet; saw logs ranked second at 506 million cubic feet; veneer logs were third with 73 million cubic feet. The number of primary processing plants increased from 231 in 1989 to 250 in 1992. Total receipts increased 13 percent to nearly 1.3 billion cubic feet.
