Description:	Sediment and runoff production from three erosion control treatments were investigated on a newly constructed road during a two-year study period. The treatments included a wood excelsior erosion mat, native grass species, and exotic grass species. Sediment and runoff production were significantly reduced on both the cutslope and fillslope by the treatments. Grass treatments showed more than a 90 percent reduction in sediment production between the two study years. The erosion mat treatment showed relatively insignificant sediment production for both years during the study.
