Description:	The U.S. grows more hardwood timber each year than is being used for domestic and export markets. However, we do have some problems. In this paper, the authors present a quick look at our hardwood resource situation (species, quality, availability). They also describe where the timber is growing for several species, talk about availability in the Southeast region, and suggest necessary cooperation by our export customers to help assure adequate supplies of hardwood products. Resources and exports by species are compared to make some necessary points.
