Title: Method for computing a roughness factor for veneer surfaces
Author(s): Hse, C. -Y.
Date: 1972
Source: Wood Science 4(4):230-233
Description: Equations for determining the roughness factor (ratio of true surface to apparent area) of rotary-cut veneer were derived from an assumed tracheid model. With data measured on southern pine veneers, the equations indicated that the roughness factor of latewood was near unity, whereas that of earlywood was about 2.
