Description:	Abstract.Six- and ten-year results are reported on group-selection management of two small tracts of longleaf pine (Pinus palustris) in south Alabama. One stand is managed via volume control in the sawtimber component, the other is managed via a structure target, and both are prescription burned on a 3-year cycle. Information is given on structure changes, volume production, and reproduction establishment and development.Comparisons are made with an adjacent tract managed and prescription burned for decades under an even-aged shelterwood system. Advantages and disadvantages of the group-selection system for longleaf pine, both observed and anticipated, are discussed.
